Nintendub

From Fact Magazine’s top 20 mixes of 2008: In Houston DJ Squincy Jones’ words, this “combines three of the raddest things to ever happen to music: Dubstep, 8bit Nintendo Loops and Rap.” The first, it has to be said, is greatly exaggerated — sure, there are edits, and a sample from the original Zelda over ‘Jagz the Smack’, but for the most part this mix is simple — Southern hip-hop acapellas over dubstep beats. And the music from Lost Boys

Taken from their new EP “The Antidote” this is the video for ‘Talk to Frank’ from Virus Syndicate. The Antidote EP is the 3rd in the Breakout Trilogy series of EPs released on Contagious Music. Both previous releases in this series have received great reviews and support from DJs, press and radio alike and The Antidote continues the trend.

Talk To Frank has been chosen for inclusion on the LA Dubstep Mixtape, a project put together by Snoop Dogg’s management and mixed by Plastician, which pairs up the best dubstep producers with big US Hip Hop MCs including Snoop, Xzibit and Eve amongst others. ‘Talk to Frank’ is the only all UK track on the CD, which demonstrates the respect for Virus Syndicate as MCs and producers!

"Pathologist in a box for automated cancer diagnosis"
Alan Nelson
Exec. Director, The Biodesign Institute
Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Location: Biodesign B105
Time: 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Host: Timothy Newman
Abstract
In most of the Western world, the diagnosis of cancer is performed exclusively by a pathologist, not an oncologist, radiologist or any other physician who actually deals with the cancer patient. For this most important diagnosis, the pathologist uses an instrument that, in principal, is over 300 years old. Even more amazing is that the pathologist makes no measurements whatsoever, and yet the pathologist\'s diagnosis is taken as truth. In an attempt to automate the pathologist using state-of the-art microscopy, computerized image processing and classification, the so called \"pathologist in a box\" concept encounters many obstacles; some technical and others psychological in nature. We will explore the complex question of automating the pathologist with regard to both areas of challenge.

The 2009 Biotech Graveyard - FierceBiotech
Last year National Venture Capital Association President Mark Heesen predicted that the coming financial crisis would make or break many small developers. The strong would survive, and the weak would not have what it took to raise cash during the credit crunch. Below is that unfortunate bunch; 16 notable companies that didn't have the money, expertise or programs to live to see another day.

[Source: TGen] - The Phoenix-based non-profit Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) announced today that, along with a business collaborator, it will submit a request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use of a new test to diagnose the 2009 H1N1 swine flu virus.

Details about TGen’s test will be presented Sunday (Nov. 1) at the 47th annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), being held today through Sunday (Oct. 29-Nov. 1) in Philadelphia.

The new test, developed at TGen’s Pathogen Genomics Division (TGen North) in Flagstaff, can not only detect influenza — as some tests do now — but also can quickly inform doctors about what strain of flu it is and whether or not it may be resistant to oseltamivir (sold under the brand name Tamiflu®; Roche), the primary anti-viral drug on the market to treat H1N1.

enjoy.
this question has me somewhat perplexed. The H1N1 vaccine has been made available and I now have the opportunity to take it if I so desire.

But do I really need it? I don't even remember the last time I had any strain of influenza. And then there is the question of whether or not the vaccine is safe.
